Working:

Google Chromecast is a HDMI dongle that works as a digital media player. Chromecast is needed to be plunged into the HDMI port of a high-definition television or monitor. It is powered by connecting it’s micro-USB port to an external power supply or a USB port. Then it will detect the user’s Wi-Fi connection and can connect to the Internet. You can stream apps and entertainment program onto the television by two methods. First by the apps and web apps which supports the Google Cast technology. Second by mirroring of content displayed on the Google Chrome browser on any device supporting Wi-Fi connection. For both of the cases you have to use the cast option on the controlling device. For directly running through TV, your TV’s HDMI port must support Customer Electronics Control feature.

With Chromecast, you can use your phone as a personalized remote control. It will provide you access to search and browse, play, pause, rewind, control the volume and even make playlists features and many other things. And to help users to get the latest features Chromecast has update facility which can update Chromecast to be compatible to work with a growing number of apps. Chromecast casting operation is not limited to single device, casting can be initiated by your friends and family using their own phone or tablet too without any additional setup for establishment of connection. All family members can sit together and enjoy together on the biggest screen in the home.

It has been released in early 2104 but was recently launched in India and at affordable market price of Rs 2,999. This is a great technological advancement and one can easily bring online multimedia to any HDTV screen in the house.
